Now, before I crash in front of a movie with a cup of coffee, waiting (im)patiently for twelve o'clock, I thought I might properly scrawl my influences and heroes in this space here: the profile isn't quite long enough for me to divulge all my heroes/poets/authors/filmmakers/artists. I feel if I didn't have them written here, I would be committing a heinous fraud, as almost all of my writing is indebted to these people and if I didn't credit them, I would be taking advantage of their excellent source material! (That exclamation mark was unneeded!)
So, to cut to the chase, here they are:
Poets: Sylvia Plath, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William Blake, William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot.
Authors: Franz Kafka, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, John Hughes, Albert Camus, Truman Capote, Thomas Pynchon, Jack Kerouac, Gabriel Garcia Marzquez, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, George Orwell, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William S. Burroughs, Gunter Grass, Vladimir Nabokov, Patrick Suskind, Edward Albee, J.D. Salinger, Joseph Conrad, Anton Chekhov, Bret Easton Ellis, Martin Amis, David Mamet.
Filmmakers: Fatih Akin, Luis Bunuel, Alfred Hitchcock Harmony Korine, Terrence Malick, Kenneth Anger, Michelangelo Antonioni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Roman Polanski, Miranda July, David Cronenberg, David Lynch, Darren Aaronofsky, Stanley Kubrick, F.W. Murnau. Paul Morrissey.
Musicians: John Cage, Sonic Youth, Daniel Johnston, My Bloody Valentine, John Zorn, Radiohead, Slowdive, Mojave 3, Mogwai, Spacemen 3, Frank Zappa.
Good? Done.

I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got heroin?
